Thread: 09 Rocket

  1. Question 09 Rocket

09 Rocket Blue/ Grey combo car, Anyone running one ? When do they decide to run the right front in or out? And how does this affect the handling? Looking for some feedback on these cars, I have one and only raced it twice, no one else running one near me, so just asking what others our doing? Any help would be apperciated. Thanks

I raced mine 10 times now always with RF out. It turns better than anything I ever drove but when it gets slick I seem to be having trouble with it being a little loose and not much forward drive. I have talked to a couple of people that are having the same trouble.

I am hearing the same things and the same issues. Just like with the old blue front cars, you still have to drive the car straight when it slicks up, but you can get it bent a little more getting in with the RF out.

RB, Then In the slick you would be better off with it out?

Moving the RF in will help the car turn on entry, most guys don't think it has much effect on exit (I'm told). So if you need it tighter in move it out. Most guys seem to run it one way or the other, may move it from track to track but generally not once your at the track (1 race night).

If your having problems with initial traction on the gas I'd stiffen the torque arm spring. I'd also run the 5th at 36" instead of the 38" but you will have more overall traction with the 38". You're also a little light on rear (IMO).

You are leaving the RF top of the shock inboard when running the RF out aren't you?

Is that the typical way this is being done? I moved mine out when moving the RF out off the assumption that that was what the outboard holes were for??

Everybody I talked to said to leave the RF shock in at the top all the time.

Yep, let it in. Depending on what kind of upper control arm your using, make sure the spring isn't rubbing the cross shaft.
