    Default GRT or SHAW or?

I am looking for some info. does anyone have any experience with a GRT modified? I've been racing late models the last 10 years and going to step back to mods next year. we are in western ohio and every body around here runs a pierce, lightning, or a few local builders cars. I've been thinking about trying either a GRT or a SHAW. we will be running at eldora and a couple of small bullrings close to home. any input would be greatly appreciated. we will be running UMP RULES. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!

grt and shaw are pretty similar cars the shaws are winning every where around the US i think you would be very happy with either

If you get a shaw i would get a taylor shaw i dont think ive seen a slow taylor shaw yet and they supposedly have great tech support.

I had a GRT mod a few years ago, and always felt their mods took backseat to their late models. I had a metric car and fought it for 4years trying to get it to hook up. I didn't have any success with it until I changed the roll center on the front end by moving a-arm mounts and ball joints. Also converted zlink to 4bar on the left rear. It was obvious GRT never put any thought into the front roll center on their metric mod.

I have a Shaw latemodel now and the Shaw family is one of the nicest you will ever find in racing. Their tech support is some of the best.

the grt mods of a few years ago (metric) are no where near the same as the new cars (chevelle) there are quite a few shaw guys that switched to grt's and liked them better. in my opinion the chevelle front end is better than the metric hands down and since the front end is better you can get away with being more agressive on the back end.

Taylor is indeed building his own cars. We have a car (Rage Chassis) going out west to Robert Hemm Racing, and Robert, who knows Jeff Taylor pretty well said Taylor's new cars look pretty good. Like anything else that is new, it will take them a little time to get them dialed in, but they'll be good cars.

I'd personally of course tell ya to check out our cars just out of personal bias, lol.

But, of the cars you initially asked about, I think either/or will serve you well. The new GRT's are surely an improvement over the metric cars they had in the past. I've heard of some quality control problems with some of the shaw mods in the past year, but rumors are just rumors. At this point I can't verify what i've heard one way or another.

Anyhow, good luck with whichever route you take!
