The annual race is being held, for the first time, in the month of September and will pay $20,000 to win, $10,000 for second and $1,000 to start.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned event will also have the cameras of SPEED Channel on hand to tape the event, to be shown at a later date. There will be a special practice session on Thursday Night, September 18th from 5:00-7:00 PM. On Friday Night, September 19th the LOLMDS will take to the track for PRC Time Trials. On Saturday, September 20th there will be LOLMDS Heat Races, B-Mains and the Bob Poynter Ford sponsored Jackson 100 main event.
Matt Miller of Waterville, OH is the defending winner of the Jackson 100. First contested in 1980, it was National Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer Charlie Swartz taking home the win. With 37 races already in the books for the 2008 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series season, the series comes to Brownstown for the second time this year, having already had 22 different event winners for the year and with 668 different drivers having participated in at least one LOLMDS sanctioned event in the season.
Earl Pearson, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL comes into the Jackson 100 holding the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship Points lead. Pearson is out in front of Bart Hartman of Zanesville, OH; Steve Casebolt of Richmond, IN; 2-time Jackson 100 winner Billy Drake of Bloomington, IL; and Scott James of Lawrenceburg, IN in the chase to make it four consecutive LOLMDS titles.
