Thread: Electric fan with alternator

    Default Electric fan with alternator

Has anyone successfully ran with an electric fan and kept the car cool on DIRT with an aluminum head crate engine?

If so what components did you use? I haerd over and over on other forums that it can not possibly be done. Then I read a post somewhere, where a 4 cyl. is racing without a fan at all and staying cool!

I've tried it on my car.(Not a crate, but a very limited motor.460ish HP)
With an alt, a good fan, the nose cut open, and duct work, it normally ran 220 to 230. I took it off, took the duct work off, and put a good 4-blade fan on it, and it then ran around 180.

When it was running 220, I was always worried about it, and if I got just a little mud in the rad, I was done.

I have seen it done. If the nose, cowl, and air damn create a positive pressure in front of the radiator and the fender wheel opening create a negative pressure then a fan may not be needed until the car slows.
