    Default Hoosier Compounds?

Could anyone explain these late model Hoosier tires? We come from Mods where we had one, so now i am in another world with these tires.

I see the economy compound, 2100, 3000. Thats what i got in the shop anyway. I know there are more, like the LM's and D's.

    Whats the charactisticss of each?

Our local tracks tire rule is LM20/1300 LM40/1600.

    Thanks, Krom.

Their should be a chart on hoosiers website.

The d-40/1600 is similar to a D-55/Spec tire compound wise

Can you have 3 1600's with 3 different types of compounds like a 2100, 3000 or econmomy type compound? I guess thats whats throwing my off, on some of my new series of tires, some have c2100 some c3000 some have economy over the number (1600 etc). What do they mean?

That 2100 and 3000 numbers, don't mean anything about the compounds. There more of a sizing chart. The 88.0 tires is the only one tire you need to ask your dealer about to see on the sizing. I usually just tell them what chalk marks I want when ordering.

Oh and as hard and slick as I hear Florence is, I would only buy the LM20's and LM40's. Hoosier is working on a new 1600, give me a few weeks and I will tell you if its better than the LM40. LM20 is a helluva a good tire. 1300 is pretty soft, I would be scared of it in a heat race, unless it was super tacky

Yep we'll be at Florence mainly this year. I was planning on buying a few used tires for a local hot shot, LM 40's, to run in practice and see how they groove them.

I have several of the open comp tires, i bought a bunch from Hoosier on closeout off there website.
