Thread: Turn Plates

    Default Turn Plates

Who makes a decent, affordable, set of turn plates. These will be used for doing alignments on passenger cars & light trucks. The ones that came with the rack suck-like-a-Hoover...the builder painted them with some kind of heavy black paint that of course rolled up and created a mess. I buffed the paint off with rol-loc discs but the steel isn't very smooth. I would have thought the steel should be surface ground to make a flat/smooth surface for the bearings to roll on?

The ones I've been around most of my life were "Hunter" and those are in most alignment shops and always worked great. I've got a set of "Bear" turn plates that I use at home that were probably made in the 50's.

I have a set of FMC turn plates and they actually worked great till I had a small fire in half my shop. They came with a front end rack.

I borrow a set of Longacres now and then and their pretty nice!
