MT. ALTO, WV-Cooter Thorne, Ivydale, WV was recently named as the 2011 Carthage Auto Parts Rookie of the Year Award. A very tight race between the top three rookies went right down to the wire with Thorne winning out over Jason Brooks and Kyle Bond.
Over $47,000 in cash prizes were awarded at the 19th annual AMRA banquet with another $10,000 in contingencies and several thousand dollars in door prizes to drivers. Since 1993 over $650,000 in prizes and contingencies have been awarded to AMRA participants.
Not only did the top 35 modified drivers receive contingencies, but also drivers outside the top 35 received several certificates. Drivers received product certificates from Hypercoil Springs, Bilstein Shocks, MSD Ignition, Schoenfeld Headers, Wilwood Brakes, Aero Wheels, and Kluhsman Racing Supply.
