...and when you see this Billet, there is a guy on 4M asking about birdcages. Might be something you could help him on, he is looking to buy some new ones. http://www.4m.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=16638&forum=12

That's MR. BIRDHEAD to you

I can recieve some but can't send any at all. My computer guru is on vaction and his server must be full, so no mail can go thru it.

As soon as I finish those end clamps we talked about, I will have some (all other parts made aready). Most likely monday or Tuesday, now.

Also what year car, Over rail or under rail? Some of the early ones didn't have much clearence to the upper rail and can hit the cage during excessive body roll (2002 or earlier).

They are similar and of the same design but have different upper and lower plates for the 3/4" rod ends and have a differnet shock mount to move the RR coilover inboard if you what to run the coilover on the cage.

If I was smart enough to post a picture I would.

Thanks Chris, But I'm done with that forum and I saw him logged in here earlier.

Billet

To post pics open the repy box and click the paperclick in the top center beside the smilie. That opens another box that lets you search your computer for the pic you want. You may have to re-size the pics before you add them.

If the pics are allready on the net somewhere you can click the "inser image" box and put in a link. It's trhe sec one to the left of the # sign. Paperclip for posting directly from your computer is diagonally (left) above it.

Bird head...Its a 99 model and its a underslung, can we help him out any?

On 2004 and newer cars have the underrail moved over 4" or 5" for clearance if you want to run the spring on the cage. So he will have to move the underrail (2003 or old) over if he wants to run the coilover on the cage, it he just wants to use as a swing arm they will work. There just isn't room on those cars for the coilover between the cage and the underrail. Moving the underail is pretty easy to do if he wants to.

I'm leaving in a couple of minutes, I'll be back sunday night.

These are on a 1998 BTI, Viper chassis. Also known as Magnums now a days.Theses are nylon liners, but are a whole heck of a lot better than what was on car. Billet has good quality parts. No Junk!! Frame is similar to masterbuilts, but not an underslung version.Billet worked with me and spec sheets info for designing these to be able to work, and have adjustability to frame clearance issues. In the spring the get the true test, eating dirt, but forsee NO problems to be had from the Cages themselves.

As Billet advised, right side will have issues with frame rail, chassis builder says tire clearance will be issue with wider end frames. think cage clearnce will be of lil concern compared to tire slapping frame.

If you get to crazy with j-bar angle, the rear end will move farther to the left and make the RR rub the frame rail. Some of the masters had this problem, I've seen many blown RR tires due to rubbing the frame rail.

You just have to keep an eye on how far is to much or move the RR upper rail ove several inches.

Why is it called a Bird Cage?

It looks nothing like my Parrot Cage.

In fact, My parrot didn't seem to like being stuffed in side the axle tube either.

I have no idea where the term came from, likely the sprint car guys.
