I just wanted to know what is meant when I see that canister shocks are valved for a certain chassis. What is the difference in the chassis to need separate valving? I got on Ohlins website and looked how they are built just wondered how it applied to certain chassis. Thanks MT

I don't specifically know of any shocks, other than Koni's for Rayburn's, that are specifically valved for different brands of cars. I know guys with MB's that are running the same Ohlins 4-link package as guys in Rockets, and the same goes for some Rayburn guys running the same Ohlins swing-arm package as guys in a Rocket (those are just examples).
Granted, I don't work hands on with Integra's or Penske's, but I know that Ohlins offers up two 4-link packages, along with a swing-arm package (not including what Shy does with them), and I believe Afco has just a standard package. I know Integra works pretty close with GRT, but again, I know guys in Rocket's and MB's running Integra's.
Now, I am sure if you find yourself running at certain settings, and within a certain valving range, you can send the shocks back (to which ever company you use) and get them revalved to give yourself more adjustment within the range you are using. I know for certain that Ohlins will do this...

What I am refering to is that the different packages (for a 4-link or swing-arm car) will have different valving ranges and the like. I do know that Ohlins (as an example) has different valving ranges for the different types of suspensions, but I haven't personally taken any of them apart to see the differences down to the minute detail.
Shy is a company that specializes in re-valving Ohlins. Their info can be found on the net. Personally, I do not have first hand knowledge of the differences between their Ohlins packages and those bought direct from Ohlins (say thru Rocket). You might try calling around to each company you are interested in and ask them the specific questions you might have.
To be honest, I wouldn't say that there is ANY brand of shocks out there that I would call "standard double adjustables". Every company does things a bit different. I am far from a shock expert, so I'd suggest contacting those companies direct as they will be able to give you a better response. Herb at HCI Dyno is also a great source of information and offers a competitive and cost effective product as well (Bilsteins). You can contact him at http://hcidyno.com
