I just purchased a new car and it has an Oval Craft oil tank in it (model 04031). I am wondering what the proper oil level is, how many quarts to fill when system is empty, and any other tech info available on this piece.
Thanks in advance.

Does this tank have the glass sight on it?
I use the oval craft tank with the built in vent and I fill mine to about 8 1/2" from the bottom. This is on a engine with an oil cooler and the big remote filter. If I keep it anywhere between 8" and 8 1/2" I dont blow oil everywhere.
Hope this helps.

Yes, it does have a glass sight and the breather. I looked at the top of the tank and it looks like it had been run at too high a level (oil, dirt and other misc. crap all over the top of the tank). I know with my last car we never used the glass sight because it was too full.
Thanks for the info.

I would agree. Excellent tank. Well built and well designed. They get my recommendation also.

Hey, Tim. The correct fill procedure is as follows. This system will work with clean lines, and for you weekly/bi-weekly drain & re-fill. Start by pouring 10 qts in to the tank. Then prime, & fire your motor, allow the motor to reach operating temp, oil & water 160, then while holding the engine at a high idle, 3500-4000 rpm check the oil level in the sight glass. Add or remove oil to get the correct level. The correct level is at the very bottom of the sight glass @ 4000 rpm. I know this may sound like a task, you should only have to do it this way once or twice, just keep track of how much oil you put in it each time. The only way to accurately check the oil level with any oil tank with a sight glass is, running at a high enough rpm to have the oil pump scavaging oil from the motor, like it would be on the race track . The oil tank you have is far superior to any oil tank on the market, & will give you nothing but trouble free performance when uesd correctly. Thank you, Ross Ardizzone----- Original Message -----
