I will be running the Knoxville race and plan on using Hoosier LM20's for time trials and heat races. I have never run a soft tire like this before, so do I need to do anything to my basic starting setup becaue of the soft tires?

Also is there much difference between the Hoosier LM40 and the D55?

If D55 racing is all you have done, then I'm going to say you will need less bite, lower your lead in the car and probably go up a hole or a couple slots on the pinion. Your going to be tighter all the way around the corner with the LM20's. Once you've ran softer tires a while and learn the different driving technique needed, then you will find that your base line will work. But since its your first time, your going to need to free up

Thanks Biz

I am guessing with the 20's I will be able to drive the car in pretty deep and get on the throttle sooner to. Does this sound correct?

Better bring a HUGE HOG or some serious HP for early on. :D

I would agree with Biz' assesment. Raising the PH Bar on the pinion is a good move there. We don't change a thing between the soft and hard stuff (except adjusting to the surface changes), but the driver does have to drive the car slightly different.

If you have the engine (you'll need a lot of HP, and especially TQ), and can get your car free enough, you can run the place WIDE OPEN, and this is especially so in qualifying. You need to make sure your car turns well on the gas and isn't too tight on the gas on entry. To be successful there, you really need to drive the car deep into the corner. Fortunately it is a track that can accept, and reward, just that.

You will have a lot of fun. That is the nicest dirt track surface and facility that I have ever seen.

thanks guys. unfortunately "the HOG" is waiting for pistons that are backed up so we won't have it. We will be struggling for HP but I am going to have fun and learn (test my new BSB parts, lol).
