I have seen one Cratemodel race that is all I ever need to see. They are noncompetitive garbage. Single file, follow the leader racing where the only chances to pass someone is either on the start or a restart if you catch them sleeping.
If anyone is under the impression that crates will make racing affordable they are kidding themselves. You are still using a specially built racing chassis, with all specially built racing parts, aluminum wheels, race tires that cost around $140 each I can’t say for sure because there isn’t a set price, it’s based on how much Terry Young likes you (but that is a topic for another day).
So a racer is going to spend anywhere from $5000 to $15000 on a racecar, put in a crate engine worth $5000, $1300 for a transmission, $560 for a set of tires. Seems like a lot to spend for a car with less power and slower lap times than a Street Stock. All this so they can go out on the track and be a novelty act, while I go to the concession stand and wait for the real racecars to come out.
