04 rocket what springs & shocks should I start with. Heavy track, 21 or 55s. Bilstein shocks. Just a good starting point.

Call Rocket @ Phone: 304-592-3200 Fax: 888-ROCKET-5
Ask them to send you a setup manual. That alone will put you in the ballpark.

Agreed... The setup manual will put you fairly close to the ball park.

Note: The setup information listed in the manual is based on a car having an all aluminum engine, so if you have a steel block or steel/steel, you will need to make some adjustments.

Feel free to email me at rocket.bonehead@earthlink.net and I'd be happy to help you out.

Yes the motor is all steel and I started LF500, RF 450, LR 250, RR 200 and a 50/30 of the RF shock. I was worried that I was too soft on the RF causing it to dig in too much and push in the center like it did not want to turn in the very center. Track had rutts in it and it felt good in and out, could drive in deep, but would not make the turn in the holes.

If you're running an all steel piece, you are too soft across the front. Try at least a 600 to 650 LF and a 500 to 550 RF and see if that doesn't help the car. You should notice that the front end is much more stable with the stiffer springs. I would probably stiffent the RR up to a 225 as well (assuming your car weighs around 2400).

The heavier the front of the car is, the stiffer your front springs will need to be to keep the car stable thru the corners.

Thanks Rocket Bonehead! I'll try that this weekend. Weight is 2400 and also I'm doubled on the LR with a 200/400. Do you think I should leave it or go 250/400? or maybe single it?

Some guys swear by that stacked LR deal, BUT I don't care much for it. I don't know many guys running well with it in all conditions. Some guys like it a lot, but I think you'll find that many of the people who will talk about it will tell you that there is certain conditions in which it will work well and those in which it won't.

Personally, I'd go with a 200 or a 225 in the LR. BUT, I don't know much about the setup that you're running, or the track you're on, so it is hard for me to give you a specific answer. If you'd like a more direct response, email me at rocket.bonehead@earthlink.net and we can go over some things.
