Chattanooga, TN (5/05/08) – What a weekend, had by the SHOW STOPPA Randle Chupp. Making his 2008 Southern RANKINGS debut, to the tune of $20,000. the Mooresville, NC second generation dirt pilot swept this weekends Skylar Trull Memorial at the Cleveland County Speedway in Lawndale. The pair of events kicked off Friday night as 40 Super Late Model teams took to the 4/10ths mile clay oval for the $5,000. to-Win challenge. Winning both nights rewarded the # 22 'Starette Trucking, RW Powell Construction, Cushman Paint & Body' sponsored, Rocket / Pontiac GTO raceteam, with a hefty $5,000. bonus and now a share in the Southern RANKINGS points lead. T-MAC Tim McCreadie of New York seems back in the 'dirt' saddle for the moment, taking both nights runner-up spots at the races conclusions. With a pair of Southern RANKINGS weekend woes, the BLAIRESVILLE ASSASSIN Jonathan Davenport is knocked from the # 2 spot in the standings, to 3rd overall, yet only 25 points out. The COLE-TRAIN rolls into the Top 5 of the Southern RANKINGS, with his 3rd place nod, Friday with the Carolina Clash series just 5 points ahead of the # 6 man.
Randy THE DREAM Weaver had a stellar weekend as well as May opened up. The NASCAR backed David Stremme Racing # 116 'Hicks & Ingle Co., Premier Kitchen Cabinets, 5150 Race Trailers' sponsored GRT / Race Engine Design, Pontiac GTO won both Friday and Saturday nights. First taking the unrankable North Georgia Speedway checkers (worth $1,200.), before moving to the Southern Regional Racing series event in Gadsden, Alabama. The change in plans proved to be successful for the Crossville, TN, native, who not only shares the Lite RANKINGS # 2 spot with California racer A.J. Kirkpatrick, but is $6,200. richer in the ole' racing account. Weaver's win is only his second showing for 2008 in the Southern RANKING (guidelined) standings and sits just 5 points behind Cole. The CHATTANOOGA FLASH Ronnie Johnson and Dennis RAMBO Franklin had 4th place nods this weekend, which ties them with Bobby Mayse, Dale McDowell, Shep Lucas, Stacy Boles and Wendall Wallace for 7th in the overall standings.
Next weekend the Southern RANKINGS, takes to tallying races Friday night in Byron Michael's home turf of Florence, AL. The $5,000. to-Win O'Reilly Southern All-Star series event should garner some good talent, minus the aforementioned Michael, who'll (probably) be chasing his SRRs group with a $3,000. to-Win (Lite RANKINGS) race in East Tennessee. Saturday night O'SAS divides and tries to conquor as the O'Reilly Southern United Racing Promoters series co-sanctions the John L. Cliett Memorial at STOKES INTERNATIONAL (Johnny, get well soon) in Columbus, Mississippi. The CCs get back in action this weekend, although Friday nights event in Augusta, GA is only a Lite RANKINGS event (paying $4,000. to-Win). Saturday in Sylvania, the Clash boys vy for $5,000. to-Win at the Screven Motor Speedway. Southern National RANKINGS are planning on interviewing next weeks top finisher and/or leader in the standings, if you would like to submit a fan question, for racers such as Chris Wall, Chupp, Davenport, Ivadent Lloyd or Cole, send an
