Can you still get the non "blue" frontend on a new Rocket chassis or is that the standard now? We run a 04 and are quite pleased. Some of the guys seem to be struggling with the "Blue" frontend. Any word on anything new coming from Rocket in 07?

I believe it was and will continue to be an "OPTION" not STD.

RB can correct me if I'm wrong.

The standard car (2" 4-link) comes with the Black, or "standard", front end. You can also get this with 1.75" main rails instead of 2". The combo and swing-arm cars come standard with the "Blue" front end. The combo and swing-arm cars also come standard with 1.75" main rails.

That said, if you wanted a 2" car with the black front end, BUT you wanted the swing-arm mounts on it, you can get it that way too. Basically you can get just about any combination that you want. They all come off the same jig.

I haven't heard of anything new with the cars for next year.

Thanks for the reply. Your answer brings up another question that I have about chassis diameters. All of the Rocket cars that I have worked on or raced have been the 2" 4 bar cars. I think the reasoning behind it however wrong it may be was because others have said that the 1.75" car has too much flex in it and "wears" out quicker. What are your thoughts between the two? Our tracks are smooth high speed tracks.

I believe that a 2" car is better. Most of the drivers I speak with feel the same. I know guys that have gone from a 2" to a 1.75" and hated the car (then loved the 2" when they went back). But I also know guys who prefer the 1.75" car. In my opinion, it just doesn't get any better than the standard 2" 4-link car.

As far as wearing out quicker, I don't know about that. I do think that the 2" cars are more consistent and generally work very well on all conditions. The guys I know with 1.75" cars seem to struggle a bit in the rough conditions. The same baseline setup will need a few tweaks to work well on the 1.75" cars as they seem to be much looser cars vs. a 2" car.
