When you guys blow up an engine do you always have damage to your dry sump oil pump? I have scavenge filters between the pan and pump but there always seems to be shrapnel that gets past the screens. I didn't know if I should go with a finer screen or what?

finer screen will help your pump, but why do you lose an engine so often ?we run a fairly course screen and clean them after a couple races to get some gasket material off them, but thats about all.you should take your pump apart and clean and replace any worn or damaged parts.hope this helps.

The screens in my scavenge filters are .018" diameter wire, 16mesh. Is there anything finer? Or is that not a good idea? Thanks.
