We are going to run a special event in the fall and we have to add 50lbs in front of the motorplate. Just curious if should be mounted high or low, forward or close to plate. We will scale the car after we place the weight to get the percentages back. It is a 3/8 rough bullring track.
Any thoughts:confused:

If you want it to have the least effect on your handling mount it on the midplate as close to the center of the car as you can get it.

I would recommend splitting that amount up into 3 to 4 chunks and playing with the placement of those chunks while the car is on the scales. This way your L% doesn't get too high. You will probably have to mount most of it on the R side of the engine, and I would agree with FT that I would try to get it as close to the mid-plate as possible. You may not have room on the mid-plate to mount it, but as far back as you can get it will be fine.

If you need to put a chunk on the L side, mount it on the upper rail instead of the lower rail. If mounting on the R side, try to split it between the two rails (upper and lower). If you mount it all too low it could make the front skate up the track on entry. When running a rule like that, splitting the weight like that seems to help keep the car more balanced.

NOTE: you may need to run a stiffer RF spring (and a LF) with having more weight up front. Sure, 50 lbs isn't much in the overall scheme of things, but it will make the car transfer harder onto the RF. Just something to keep in mind.
