Wanting the option of keeping the tranny in the car when pulling the engine, but not sure the best way to go about it. I have a winters bellhousing. Thanks.

There should be two small flat areas on the bell housing where you can drill two holes thru the bell housing and the mid plate. I use 1/4" bolts and lock nuts. Works great.

Same here with a winters bell...I also run a tranny mount on my falcon, its want hold up the tranny and bell by itself, so you still need the bolts through the bell and midplate

What Biz & Pinion said, only thing I have run into is on one of the midplates we had for a GRT didn't have enough material at the top to put the small bolts in. We just welded a piece of 1"x.25 piece at the top. Doing what you talking about makes engine swaps so much easier.
I just use the mid plate with 1/4 20 bolts to hold the trans in place when the motor is out. I just make sure that the bolts do not extend pass the mid plate
What do you all mean when you say tranny mount? I do know that the tranny has a place to use a mount. Is this something that should be used?
I have all ways had problems with the bellhouseing cracking.

We ran one for a little while a few years ago. We made one that clamped on with weight clamps and a piece of angle bolted across and we used a stock Chevy rubber mount. When we sold the car the person insisted we were wrong and it needed a solid mount, He put it in and busted the transmission 3 times in 3 weeks.
Brinn or Bert used to recommend using one.
Have never had a rear mount on late model transmission. This is going back to the days when I was still using a Powerglide.

My mount is also a stock chevy rubber mount....I never ran one with the bert trannies and I always cracked bells at least once a season....Brinns and the falcons has place to bolt the mount up and bert doesn't..(I think that's right) Would have use a large ubolt on the tail of a bert
JR you build it off the frame the way ego was talking about, or weld in tabs (what i did) to bolt your cross angle to
I run a bert and I am all most sure it has a place to use a mount. Will this help with the cracking problem.
Bizkit can you post some pic's or any one that has some.
Thanks

I have a bert tranny and bellhousing. Before we put the engine in we a attatched the bellhousing by threading a couple bolts into two small holes in the top corners of the bellhousing and through the midplate. Then we cut the ends of the bolts off and ground them flush so they wouldn't hurt the engine block.
Whenever I take the engine out I still put a bottle jack under the tranny just to be safe.
I like to see how some of you do the trans mount does any one have pic's
Bizkit, I have to get my 8 year old son to help me with the digital camera.
