Do you have to run an oil cooler on a crate motor? And if you do how much does it help cooling....

You do not HAVE to but they do help. We have won many races without one.

No oil cooler on ours, years ago when we ran wetsump motors, we had a oil temp gauge on the car. Oil was running pretty warm so we installed a cooler and didnt really make a whole lot of difference. Moral to the story, throw the oil temp gauge out and just change the oil a little more often.

kinda how I feel...but this dang car...I put an 18" 4 blade fan on and it hit the rack....so now I have a 15" 6 blade and it looks like its not really gonna pull enough air...even with the shroud. Just wondering if an oil cooler would help...guess not...maybe a pusher fan...lol

That is with the engine raised about an inch....(just for that Huge ballancer to clear the steering) I see a 15" 4 blade fan with 32 degree pitch...might buy that...or a pusher fan...how long can it run with a red top optima? Never mind...I am just gonna run alky...lol Car is getting close though hope to get it started this weekend....you gonna be around (this weekend) would like to come look at those tires soon...AJ

Horrible delayed reaction, do you have the engine setback 6". Would that get it off the rack, just tryin to figure out why it is so far forward?

Yea something sounds off. Our fan was the ONLY thing close to the rack.

The ballancer was hitting the steering shaft u-joint...the fan was hitting the steel crossover lines on the rack...yes with the engine back 6 inches...lol

AJ, i found the fix. . . . I know where a real clean chassis that has a rack on it guarenteed not to rub. :-D
