Clock Ticking Down To 2006 World of Outlaws Late Model Series Season Opening Events!!!

1-13-06 Norman,OK

For race fans and race teams the clock can’t tick any faster as the time draws nearer and nearer when the 2006 World of Outlaws Late Model Series gets the season underway. In just a few short weeks the highly anticipated start to the 2006 Championship begins as the nations top drivers and race teams battle it out in what is hoped to be a repeat of the 2005 season.

After an eighth month grind last year the Championship came down to the last event. With a dramatic last lap pass Billy Moyer of Batesville,AR earned enough points to tie Steve Francis of Ashland,KY for the Championship points. A second level tie-breaker (most second place finishes) allowed Moyer to claim the Championship in what was certainly one of the most competitive seasons in dirt Late Model history.

The 2006 campaign will unfold Saturday, February 4 at Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick (Waynesville),GA with the running of the $10,000 to win ‘Superior Racing Products 50’. The WoO Late Model Series debuted at the Frankie Lloyd owned and promoted semi-banked 4/10ths mile red clay oval October of last season with Shane Clanton of Locust Grove,GA capturing the victory.

The stars and cars of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series will then travel to Volusia Speedway Park in Daytona Beach (Barberville),FL for rounds two and three of the 2006 season. February 16 and February 18, the WoO Late Model Series race teams will return to the half-mile facility as part of the ‘35th Annual Winternationals’. Thursday’s ‘Daytona Dodge Chrysler/MOPAR Speed Shop/Valvoline 50’ and Saturday’s ‘Daytona Dodge Chrysler/MOPAR Speed Shop/Valvoline 50’ both pay the winner $10,000. A complete program of time trials, heat races, “B” Main races and the dash race will precede the main event each date.

DIRT MotorSports and the World of Outlaws Late Model Series continue to shape the 2006 schedule and look forward to the series’ third season of bringing the best collection of dirt Late Model racers from coast to coast together for what will no doubt be one of the most competitive seasons in series history.
