Chattanooga, TN (1/7/08) -- The Rankings System (National and Regional) has kick-started the 2008 season. The Top 5 tallying formula will continue to be the formula of choice using last years guidelines to govern its points. The Regional: Northern and Southern RANKINGS divisions make up the 2008 schedule to decide the 'BEST OF THE DIRT LATE MODEL ACES' within certain area's of the country. The bordered (Regional Events) will be ranked on the same finishing positions (1st – 5th) of $5,000. to $9,999. to-Win paying events, while the National Conference Championship (NCC) events tally finishing positions (1st – 5th) of $10,000. to-Win events or higher, despite their location. Rankings adminestrator Steve Hixson will continue handling the accrual of points for the system.
Press releases pertaining to the RANKINGS will be distributed through all forms of multi-media racing outlets, which include print and electronic media's, on a weekly basis. The 2008 ICEBOWL (in Talladega, AL) is the first rankings event of the season, within the Southern Regional Conference (SRC), while the first National Conference Championship event is set for race #1 of the 10 race series in Brunswick, GA; the SUPERBOWL of RACING, beginning January 23rd. The first Northern Regional Conference (NRC) event is again scheduled for Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway in Calvert City, on March 13th. The STAKKED 10 races will return to the 2008 schedule for the RANKINGS system which will tabulate ten (10) of the most prestigious (NOT particularly monetary) events of the season, offering a double point reward to those whom rank at their conclusion and within the NCC.
The 2008 RANKINGS System welcomes a new (little brother) conference this season for events paying between $2,500. and $4,999. to-Win. The Dirt/Super Late Model races titled LITE RANKINGS will also tally Top 5 finishes, using the same formula for the any race, without regional boundaries within that payout. A few states have been introduced as an EXPANSION of the two regions seemed necessary for 2008. Joining the SOUTHERN Confernce for tallies this season are, Louisiana and Arkansas, while the states of Missouri, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois join the NORTHERN region.
