Fulton, MS (12/30/07) – Coming off the most successful year in his young career, Eric Cooley is locked and loaded to kick off 2008 next weekend at the 17th Annual Ice Bowl at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Alabama.
In 2007, 16 year old Eric Cooley set the world on fire by winning 19 feature events, the Columbus Speedway (Columbus, MS) Track Championship, and the Tri-State Late Model Stock Series Championship. Cooley’s 19 feature wins came in 57 feature event starts that included 41 top five finishes and 47 top ten finishes.
The 2008 season, which will mark his third year of driving full sized race cars, will see Cooley once again piloting his #33 Late Model Stock at various tracks across the southeast. In addition, the team has purchased a 604 GM Crate Engine and will be entering several Crate Late Model races in 2008 including a majority of the big Crate events.
Cooley Motorsports will kick off the 2008 campaign January 4th-6th at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Alabama in the 17th Annual Ice Bowl. Eric will be pulling double duty over the course of the weekend as he competes in the $2,000 to win Sportsman portion of the weekend as well as the NeSmith Crate Late Model Series portion of the event, which boasts $2,500 to win. An open practice session for both divisions will be held on Friday with qualifying and heat races on Saturday and b-mains and the main events on Sunday afternoon.
