Columbus, MS (12/26/07) - Columbus Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi has announced its tentative 2008 schedule, and once again the high banked, red clay oval will showcase a thrilling season for racers and race fans.
In addition, to the earthshaking Weekly Racing Series Events, the Lucas Oil Late Model Series, Nesmith National Crate Late Model Series, O’Reilly United Sprint Car Series, O’Reilly Southern All Star Super Late Model Series, and the O’Reilly SUPR Super Late Model Series are all part of the 2008 schedule for “The Baddest Bullring in the South”.
Action will get underway for 2008 with the 8th Annual Carl Hogan Honda Winter Classic on January 25th-26th. On Friday, January 25th, an open practice session will be held with action getting underway at approximately 5 p.m. On Saturday, January 26th, a full slate of racing action will be on tap. Super Late Models will headline the program as they battle for $3,000 to win in a 40 lap main event. The Nesmith National Crate Late Model Series will also be in action as they battle for a $2,500 top prize. In addition, Open Wheel Modifieds will be on the card as they compete in a $1,000 to win main event with Street Stocks waging war for a $300 top prize. Gates open at 9 a.m. with the driver’s meeting at 12:30 pm and racing action at 2:00 p.m.
The 2008 Weekly Racing Series will get underway on March 1st with the 7th Annual Golden Triangle Championship featuring the Rebel Challenge Weekly Racing Series Super Late Models PLUS a full Weekly Racing Series Event.
Some of the other notable events for 2008 include the 7th Annual Brown Engineering Rebel Challenge (March 7th-8th), the 14th Annual James King Memorial (April 12th), the 10th Annual John L. Cliett Memorial (May 10th), the Modified Four Crown Series (May 24th), the 10th Annual James Nickoles Memorial (July 12th), and 19th Annual Magnolia State 100 (September 26th-27th), and the season ending 7th Annual Possum Town Grand Prix (November 21st – 22nd).
