LUCAS OIL LATE MODEL SERIES SANCTIONED ALL AMERICAN 50 AT VIRGINIA MOTOR SPEEDWAY POSTPONED DUE TO WEATHER

Saluda, VA – After discussions with the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series, officials at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway, due to the inclement weather plaguing the East Coast, have postponed the All American 50 presented by Thurston Spring Service, Inc until Friday, September 1st.

“This is one of the hardest things a promoter ever has to do,” said Track General Manager Clarke Sawyer. “But with the amount of rain expected in the area and the distances that many of the competitors and fans must drive and the cost of fuel right now, it is in the best interest on everyone’s behalf to postpone this weekend’s event,” added Sawyer.

“We want to thank Virginia Motor Speedway for working so closely with us on this postponement, but with the forecasted weather conditions it is in everyone’s best interest to make this difficult decision. But with the postponement it now gives us a race to partner with the Hillbilly 100 at Tyler County Speedway scheduled for September 2nd,” commented Spencer Wilson, Series Director for the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series.

The postponed $10,000 to win event will still be in front of the SPEED Channel cameras for airing sometime in the fourth quarter.

When the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series returns on Friday, September 1st the program will also include Round 4 of the Victory Lap Late Model $25,000 Challenge, the Budweiser Modified and Al’s Auto Parts Charger divisions. The Friday night event will take the place of the normal Saturday night event scheduled for September 2nd.

With the rainout officials at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway will turn their attention to hosting Truckin Thunder Night presented by Cecil B Arthur next Saturday July 1st. Fans can expect a night full of side by side, high octane, fast family fun as all five divisions will be competing in double points events. Not only will there be exciting action on the track but the speedway also will present a huge fireworks display presented by JEFCO, Inc. to celebrate the 4th of July and our countries independence.

Competitor gates for Saturday, July 1st will open at 3pm with spectator gates opening at 4pm. On track activities will begin at 6:15pm with hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday: Victory Lap Late Models (35 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (30 Laps); Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps); Al’s Auto Parts Chargers (25 Laps) and the Dixie Chopper All Americans (15 Laps). Late Model, Sportsman, Modified and Charger divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features only. All Americans will run heats and feature.

Admission price for Adults $10, Seniors and Military $8; Students 13 – 17 years old $7, Children 7 – 12 years old $4 and Children 6 and under admitted free. The speedway offers a $2 discount coupon on the Speedway’s Website, good on any Adult, Senior and Military tickets only. Fans need to have a coupon for each ticket purchased.
