Track went from a D-55 tire rule to a optional D-45 rule. We got a late start this season but noticed all the front runners on the 45's. So of coarse we went that route also. We are a contender to win every week so I am hesitant to try the 55's. We're getting a couple of races out of the rears. I was curious if the 45's need to be worked a lot to get the most out of them? At this time we are not cutting or siping them. I have heard that they are not as good as a 55. Just don't know enough about tires yet to make a solid decision.

On your track surface there is noway to really know until you try running a siped tire and see how it holds up. With the hot months upon us, a cut up 55 RR maybe a better tire for the feature on long runs, if your track has cuations then the 45 will stay cool and be hard to beat

Are they actually d55 and d45? I was under the assumption that hoosier went to 1600 and 1500 for those tires. I have seen the d55 shoulder plated 1600's(and I wonder why I like American Racer's). Personally I would cut up the D45 like the D55 maybe use a single sipe instead of double. I know on red clay hard pack slick tracks that have a d55(1600) rule we cut ours up as much as we could(cross and around "v-groove" cuts and double sipe across and around). The only think I might do different would be to only go single sipe around and accross if they really bite up and wear too fast with double. I would just run the D55 never had much luck with a D45. If you could get ahold of those *D55* "Mississippi Mud tire" or Star Tire those things are awesome worked really good up here in the Mid Atlantic. Not sure if they make that compound anymore. They say the 1500 is a D45 *D55* blend but it's not it's a D45. Just My Opinion.
