Byron Michael in the B17 car unloaded off the trailer by qualifing 2nd in his group which gave him a starting spot of 6th this weekend when he attended the $5,000.00 SRRS race at Moulton,Alabama.Bad part was his closesest competetion in the SRRS points battle,Billy Mayo, was fastest qualifier out of all 4 groups.Billy qualified at a 14.58 which was three tenths faster than anyone else, putting him on the pole for the race.
Once the green flag dropped,Billy Mayo was in another zip code, slowly pulling away from the field, even in lapped traffic. However back in 6th place Byron Michael wasn't going to lay down for anybody.Picking the competetion off one by one he steadily moved toward the front.
With only one caution flag in the whole 50 lap race, Byron was only able to work his way up to 2nd place before he ran out of laps.
Billy winning the race and Byron running 2nd tightened up the points battle to only 85 points seperating the two of them. With only two more races on the schedule, you can bet that Byron will be trying to protect his points lead by racing as hard as he knows how.Tony Morris who is in 3rd place in points saw the two in front of him gain more ground with his 11th place finish.
