"I have had to go on the road most of my racing career to run against (and beat) the best there is in dirt late model racing. Now, they get to come to my backyard and I feel real good about my chances & that $50,000 pay off . I great hometown crowd in my corner would sure make it little easier'.
John Llewellyn, from Knoxville & a national standout driver & 2007 Southeast & Mideast Region FASTRAK Champion on the subject of FASTRAK rolling into Mountain Raceway Park at Maryville.
The FASTRAK Champions Dirt Late Model Series drivers traveling to Maryville Tennessee Mountain Raceway Park October 17th & 18th represent the cream of the crop from around the 10 regions of the US, running identical GM Performance engines on Goodyear Eagle Tires in the dirt late model configured cars. They travel in tractor trailers much like their NASCAR counterparts.
Some teams feature drivers that are involved in & around driver development situations. Over 170 drivers nationwide are eligible. Finals stats will add a few more the week before the event.
The Mountain Raceway Park at Maryville Tennessee stop is the second leg of three events, the first one being Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe Alabama October 5th & 6th and the legendary high banked Volunteer Speedway at Bulls Gap Tennessee the third leg on October 19th & 20th .
The high point man of the three races will pocket $50,000 in Championship winnings, not to mention the contingency monies and the individual race earnings.
The 2006 Champion from Six-Mile SC , Steve ‘Hot Rod’ LaMance took home $82,5000 total for the three events.
"These guys coming in are the best from around the country, but we feel we have as strong a lineup to compete against them as any track could field" remarked first year promoter & track owner Kevin Coffey
"We have a great program for each night that should be fun for the racers & entertaining for the fans. We expect big crowds each night & will open the gates at 4 pm both days."
"This is the chance of a lifetime for all of these drivers and we are proud to have been selected by FASTRAK to be the first host for their 'Grand Nationals ' series. This is one event the fans need to take in." said Adina Chumley, who is handling public relations chores for the Maryville event.
