Shan Smith and the SS Performance Enterprise team turned a bad night into a good one this past weekend. After spending the week getting ready to race East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa there weekend was in doubt only hours before the races were to start when they called the races due to rain. Within 15 minutes the team decided to instead head north 150 miles to Putnam County Speedway to get a change to race.
Arriving at the track with literally only minutes to ready the car and get on the track. Starting dead last in the heat race Shan wasted no time in dispatching several cars and moved into the top 5 in only a couple laps. As the laps wound down Shan proceeded into third place to finish the heat race there.
With the break in between the heats and features Shan and the team needed every minute to complete the setup changes needed to race at Putnam from the car setup for East Bay and only finished them as Shan was in the car preparing for to pull out onto the track.
At the drop of the green Shan started his move for the lead position, passing the lead cars on the second lap Shan took the lead and never looked back extending his lead to 1/2 the track several times only to have cautions bring the field back together. Several drivers were able to make it into the second position but none were able to challenge for the lead as Shan went on unchallenged to take the win.
This is the 7th win of the year for the SS Performance Enterprise Team along with a total of 26 top 10 finishes and 16 top 5 finishes out of 30 races.
The team would like to thank all of there Sponsors for helping them out so far this year and are looking forward to the rest of the season.
