June 16, 2006: Mark Dickson wins AMRA Road Warrior Tour's 'Skyline 30'

Some folks really know how to throw a birthday party.
Mark Dickson celebrated his birthday with cake prior to Skyline Speedway's
'Skyline 30' for the AMRA Road Warrior Tour. He blew out the candles, then
blew away the competition in winning his first RWT race of the 2006 season.
Front row starter's Larry Bond & Louie Krushansky led the 24 car field to
starter Todd Gorrell's green flag, with Bond gaining the early race
advantage. By lap 2, Dickson had worked his way from the 4th starting spot
to the lead, and 3rd starting Mike Long was breathing down his neck in
second.
5 early race cautions kept the field tight, and Larry Bond reclaimed the
runner-up position with Chris Stotts moving from 8th to 3rd. In the span of
2 laps, Krushansky vaulted from 4th to grab the race lead with a lap 13
pass. Krushansky's pass would prove his eventual undoing, as he made
contact with an infield tire, causing left front suspension damage. As
Krushansky manhandled his now ill handling car, 2004 event winner Stotts,
and defending race winner Dickson swapped the runner-up position a pair of
times. Krushansky's valiant effort to hold the lead ended on lap 23, as he
looped his mount in turn 1, handing the point back to Dickson.
The races final 7 lap run saw Stotts give everything he had in an attempt to
wrestle the lead away, but he could come no closer than 2 car lengths, as
Dickson's 'P&N Trucking/ Rauch Cabinets/ Realwood Interiors/ Strahler
Masonary/ Chris Fannin Trucking/ Welsh Electric/ Mike's Auto Body/ Boley
Enterprise/ StuArt Signs/ Hassy Chassis' #0 flashed under the checkered flag
to increase his Road Warrior Tour point lead. Stott's 'Bullitt Chassis'
#s8, and Kenny Riddle's 'Allman's Sweep-a-Lot' #1k were rewarded with top 3
finishes and trophies from Carthage Auto Parts off Cincinnatti, Ohio.
Doug Adkins came from 19th starting position to finish 4th, and Larry Bond
rounded out the top 5. 6th -10th were Dave Defibaugh, Kenny Johnson, Pat
Gillian, Will Rowe and Darrell Reno.
Adkins was the 'Hassy Chassis Fast Qualifier' picking up a $100 bonus from
Dave Poske's Performance Parts in the process, with Bond, Krushansky, Long
and Dickson winning the qualifying heat races, and J.C. Casto getting the
win in the B-main.
The Road Warrior Tour will next be in action July 1st at the Tyler County
(WV) Speedway, followed by a July 3rd appearance at the Brushcreek
Motorsports Complex with each event paying $1500 to the winner.
