brake ?

My brake gauges, and my balance bar are telling me two different things. M/C's are both 1" pistons, and my calipers are all S/L 1.75" pistons. Setting the brakes even (by the gauges), I ended up 5 turns to the front by the end of the race. Sunday, when I sprayed wd-40 on my balance bar, it suddenly dawned on me that it was centered (7 turns each way). Could I have a bad gauge? I always end up with alot of front brake in the car, judging by the gauges.

Just because you have the same number of turns each way doesn't mean the brakes are even. The pushrods for the two mastercylinders could be different lengths. The crossbar may not be perpendicular to the pushrods, etc.

I guess thats what has me confused. Everything "appears" to be equal.(pushrod lengths, etc.)

Oh yeah, for the record, I do bleed the brakes on a semi-regular basis. ( I don't think air in the system is the problem, but as always, I could be mistaken.)
