How high is everyone mounting the nose off the track? Most of the tracks we run are smooth and slick. If it matters the car is an 07 Masters. Also what is the measurement from the center of the RF hub to the tip of the nose?

Thanks

I'm guessing here not actually measuring but I'm thinking like 8" to 8.5" on the RF corner.

It used to be 48" from center of the wheel to the farthest forward point of the nose but I think alot of sationing bodies increased that to 52 for the new noses with the lip. I'd double check that with NARA, WoO, to other saction bodies to make sure that is correct.

I'll check mine tonight. I know I had to raise my nose two weeks ago, I was doing some Farmin'

How much lower should I set the left side than the right? Around 2"???

Thanks

Hey Wrench, We have our nose at 5 1/2" on the lf and 7 on the rf. We were at the Port last week when it was a little rough in warm ups and as pinion said, We did a little "Farmin"!

Thanks No Rookie. I'll probably mount it at 6" and 8" and see what happens.

I mounted ours at 7", next year or when the time comes to replace it I'll put it around 8". 7 is OK on smooth slick, but when you get on high speed/tacky and the car noses over 7 isnt enough. Right now ours looks like it got blasted with a shotgun it has so mnay rivets holding it together.

5-6" left side, 10"-11" right side. That is for bumpy tracks or tracks with a big cushion.

We're at 5" on the LF and 9" on the RF (Rocket). The next one I put on I am going to 9.5" or 10" if I can get it there without showing the bumper. That is also with the bottom of the nose mounted level with the bottom of the bumper. We dig the RF in a bit on real rough tracks, but 98% of the nose is still there, and there is only about a 5" long section that is scuffed (nothing folded under).

On a MB, I would HIGHLY recommend cutting off the RF bumper spud and welding a new one on about 1.5" to 2" higher. That should keep the bumper and the nose from digging in (a common problem with MB's I've seen; most have the RF folded under or torn off). If you are putting on an MD3 nose, just mount the bottom of the nose level with the bottom of the bumper. The composit piece that you can buy to mount the bottom of the MD3 doesn't fit well on a MB rear bumper, so if you can find some 1/4" to 3/8" thick plastic (or other composit) to mount it, that will work better for you.

RB, they must have moved the RF spud on the 07 cars. The LF spud is at the bottom of the 2x2 and the RF is at the top.

Thanks

On our 2005 GRT, we had it about 8 to start....now it's been bent up to around 9". Farming isn't the word, more like "excavating"! We run fairly high banked 3/8ths or less tracks that can and have gotten rough this year.

We kept thinking the RF shock was bottoming out but the shock didn't show it, it ended up being the bumper. We'll be mounting ours higher on the next one(around 9-10)....if not sooner. Pretty much looks like we are missing a front tooth.

This is exactly how my cars are. My right side is at 10-1/2" with the md3 nose being level with the bumper on the right.

Good luck.

RB,

Don't all new MBs have 2 mounts for the right side of the bumper? It seems high enough for us in the top hole.

I will say this is not with an MD3 nose though.

I run my MD3 nose at 7" on the left and 9" on the right measured at the front corners. Never had a problem.

That could be... I have only had a good look at one '07 and it only had one spud (built in March).

Our 07 only has one spud on the right, it's at the top edge of the 2x2. The left spud is at the bottom edge.

OK. They used to have a provision for mounting the nose level or higher on the rt.

You can try mounting it at 2' or so. Didn't run well like this but the pics were good.

Seriously, we are at 6" left and 8-1/2" right. No damage so far but not many nights on the car yet (Warrior). Going all the way out to the maximum allowed distance will also compound the problem. As the car rolls to the RF corner, you will stick the nose farther down. We keep our nose around 50" out, 52" is also (supposedly) the max allowed around here.
