View Full Version : How far
How far do most racers drive into the trun before they lift off of the fuel. I know that where you lift the fuel is different for every track. All i'm looking for is a general rule.
The reason I ask is i am looking at how i drive and trying to pay attention on how i drive and trying to improve my lap time.

Until your butt puckers up so tight it pulls your foot off the gas! Sorry, just kidding. I don't know how to answer your question. Depending on the track and conditions, you may get answers ranging from the flag stand, to, not lifting at all.
I'll try the butt pucker. That was funny

Just don't try to be a hero. That can cause bad things to happen! Some people would be amazed at how often "easy in" is the fast way around the track.
Alot will depend on a combination of track conditions and car setup. At the particluar track we run on a weekly basis, when conditions are "usual" a good setup car will not lift at all in 3 & 4.
That is one particular track, there are some where you may have to lift at flagstand - others where it may be the center of the corner.

Don't forget the "roll off" method too.
Going into the corner and moving your foot off the loud pedal fast isn't always a great thing... More often than not you'll be more consistent (and the car too) if you make it a habit to left off the gas like you go on it (which, hopefully is smoothly).

Amen to that, and dont think you have to get all the way out of it either. 4 bars and combos there of seem to like it when you roll in and out, but never hit nuetral.
