Assuming it is much more hammer down in hot laps and qualifying, it may be a connection on the wiring to the ignition and only shows up under the higher G's of a more hammer down track.
Just a guess!
High float levels will allow spillage into the venturi. Lower them a bit for a really heavy track with a lot of side bite. Any trouble setting your idle mixture?

We had that happen last year, except it was on the straightaway. Dead like you hit the switch, then right back on. Ended up being the coil, new High vib deal from MSD and no more problem.
Krom.
Look at your actual ignition switch. Have had them not work when "jiggled" just right.

If it happens again glace at the tach while the motor is missing. If it is acurate then the problem is likely not the wiring or distibutor. Once had a softouch rev limiter box cause this by being poorly mounted sprayed by the carwash kid.

Does anything else electrical on the same circuit cut out? Dash lights?
I would bet its the ignition switch.
Also check for a wire being cut through by sheet metal where they cross through the firewall .
And if you have any crimp on electrical fittings, do yourself a favor and replace them them and soldier them into wiring!
Check and clean your grounds, and of course battery terminals.
Hope you find your GREMLIN!:-D
