rear ended another car, had radiator, dual core, single pass repaired, epoxyed shut 6 tubes upper back row, fan tips small dents , all tips, car now idles, and temp goes up to 220 when before it stayed at 185-90. lower hose bulges quite a bit. Should i be looking for a loose impeller on pump? stewart S-2 pump. gas 406 motor. 4 blade afc80183 17.5 blade fan, shrouded halfway back over blades. will closing 6 tubes make that much of a temp rise?

Sure could, if it was fine before and now it isn't then most likely the radiator. they need replaced from time to time anyway just because the fins get smashed from flying clods and debrie and then don't cool.

Just replace it.

If I'm following you right.

2 race old radiator
got into wreck
repaired radiator by closing off 6 tubes
has some small nicks from fan and what not.

Now car runs hotter idling then before.

If that is correct. I'd replace it.

That is the only thing different and would be the likely culpruit. I wouldn't think the water pump could have taken a hard enough hit (since the fan didn't get into the rad real hard) that it could have knocked the impeller loose, but it isn't hard to look and see to be sure.

problem solved.... pulled water pump, ok, gonna get a new fan it does have flexed blades....BUT the culprit, which i had issue with before, dang distributor hold dowm loose AGAIN! has the slip collar MSD dist, called engine builder waiting for his return call about having set dist, drive gear, oil shaft depth. Only thing i can figure is dist is pushing up in collar and he didn't check for positive tightness on collar. Hopefully idling, and timing isn't off too much to have caused any damage. needless to say won't be run with no fan on it. Thanks Billet for your input, did twist check of dist, before i ran it after radiator being reinstalled, didn't move, but must be getting loose some how, some reason.
