How to you guys feel about the carbon fiber drive shaft for a SLM on a rocket chassis. I need a new one, and wanted to got the pro's and con's of it, or is the alumi. one the better way to go.
Thanks

If you are running a Bert ballspline, that is what I would get for safety. I would not drive a car with a ballspine and a steel or aluminum shaft.

Why is that? I don't run a ballspline but a good friend of mine does with an aluminum driveshaft.

If the driveshaft breaks it wont come out of the tranny. Since it stays in, it whips around in a big arc and will come into the cockpit and tear you up! The carbon shaft will explode into dust.

Makes sense. Thank you.

A CF shaft would be fine if you can afford it. Lighter, stronger, less flex, all equals less parasitic HP loss. Not to mention the "safe" factor.
The only negative is the cost.

If you can afford it, its money well spent. Not too many times can a guy spend some money and make his car safer, and at the same time help in the hp department.
